This tutorial will show you how to install the switchback LED daytime running light fog bezel for the 2015-2017 Subaru WRX/STi (70-811). With an updated fog lamp bezel comes an updated installation guide. Using these switchback LED DRLs will make you be seen and earn you some style points with its super glossy look against your paint job.
Step 1: Detach your stock foglight bezel from your bumper. You can either use a flathead screwdriver to pry out the bezel or simply pull it out using your hand.
In this diagram, the included module box is connected to the included wiring harness.
Step 2: Drop the wiring harness and module box down from the engine bay. Pull out the LED DRL module box adapter out from the fog lamp area.
Step 3: Connect the new switchback LED DRL foglamp bezel to the module box cable.
Step 4: Undo the plastic clips holding the bumper and wheel well together. This will give you access to the rear fog light area.
Step 5: In this diagram below, we've already disconnected the turn signal harness from the turn signal bulb (circled in red).
Unplug the turn signal harness from the turn signal bulb. Plug the stock turn signal harness into the wiring harness, marked as #1 in the diagram above. Plug in the harness adapter (indicated as #2) back into the turn signal bulb. Essentially, the wiring harness is plugged in between the turn signal bulb and turn signal harness. Use the diagram below to visualize this.
Step 6: Route the wiring harness below the radiator. Not only will this keep the wiring cooler, but also ensure the wires are long enough. Repeat steps 3-5.
Step 7: Connect the black wire to the negative(-) car battery connection and the red wire to the ACC 12V positive(+) connection in the fuse box. Since there is only one pin port for the ACC connection, you can bend or cut off one of the pins on the fuse adapter.
Step 8: Test your LED daytime running light fog bezel for functionality. If the DRLs light up and the switchback lights work, reapply the clips to the wheel well to finish and enjoy your new switchback LED daytime running light foglamp bezel!
