Why Don't My Sockets Fit With Each Other?

When it comes to our extension wiring harness sockets wire, some customers come to us saying the sockets will not fit each other because they look different. So when they need to extend their wires for their LED lights on their Jeep Wrangler, their lights won't function. There were enough responses to justify looking into so that's what we did. After some research, we went ahead and found a 5202 size bulb to work with to see how the sockets do not fit each other. We recorded a video showing our results below:

Despite the sockets appearing different, it turns out that they do fit in each other! The 5202 bulb and the adapter has the exact same socket which means the adapter is meant to directly extend the wires to your desired plug. On the other side of the adapter, the sockets do look different but as you saw in the video, the two connections fit and lock in just fine. We do understand that the two sockets look different, but this design is how the adapter wire secures itself to the light bulb's wire. The rectangle shape of the adapter fits snug around the rectangle outline of the 5202 bulb's socket while the tab locks in the adapter socket for a secure connection. And while there are a few people who come to us asking about this issue, there are many reviewers who say the sockets connect just fine, such as one in the picture below.
