This tutorial will show you how to install the rear spare tire mounted LED tail/brake light (35-701) on the 2007-2017 Jeep Wrangler JK.
If you have a bigger aftermarket spare tire that gets in the way of your stock 3rd brake light, this LED light kit is just what you need to relocate your 3rd brake light! The LED brake light kit will set our LED light in the center of your Jeep's spare tire and add an additional tail light function for better visibility.
Step 1: Assemble the LED tail/brake light.
Put the rubber grommet through the rectangular bracket.
Push the LED tail/brake light into the rubber grommet.
Step 2: Remove your spare tire. Take out its center cap.
Step 3: Mount the T-shaped bracket onto the two bolts circled below.
Step 4: Put your spare tire back into place.
Step 5: Bolt the LED tail/brake light onto the mounting bracket sticking out of your spare tire. The mounting is adjustable so you can screw in the LED light above or below the bracket, and as far in or out as you want. You may also apply just one screw so you can pivot the LED light around, or apply both screws to tightly secure the LED tail/brake light in place.
Step 6: Gain access to your tail light harness.
Lift the top plastic cap off of the passenger side rear seat belt cover.
Pull out the outside cover to undo the clips. Remove the cover.
Take out the two screws securing the inner plastic cover to the floor.
Remove the nut located in front of the seat belt and remove the inner plastic cover.
Peel back the carpet to reveal the wiring harness. Remove the two clips to make it easier to work with.
Step 7: Use the included wire to extend the LED tail/brake light's existing wires to your tail light harness. Tap the wires accordingly:
- Black wire - tail light (+)
- White wire - ground (-)
- Red wire - brake light (+)
Step 8: Test the LED tail/brake light to confirm it fully lights up. Once you have, put the trunk area covers back in place and completely bolt on your spare tire to finish. You may now enjoy your Jeep Wrangler's newly relocated LED brake light!

If you purchased a license plate bracket along with this kit, you may use the other side's mounting location to bolt on the license plate bracket.
Step 1: Mount the license plate bracket and the LED tail/brake light at the same time.
You may set the bracket over the LED light, or below it.
