This is a tutorial that will show you how to install the 40W Ford LED fog lights (70-277) fit for the following Ford trucks:
- 2015-2017 Ford F-150
- 2018 Ford F-150 (facelift model)
- 2017-up Ford F-250 & F-350 Super Duty
These Ford trucks share the same lower bumper fog light and bezel design and so whether you purchased the dual LED pod light kit or the single LED pod light kit, either one will fit these F series trucks. You may perform this installation without first removing your fog light bezel, however, you may have very limited hand space to tightly mount your LED fog lights. This demonstration will show you the pod light installation process with the fog light bezel removed. Please also note that this LED fog light kit uses your existing fog light bezels and does NOT come with its own fog lamp bezels. After installation, your Ford F-150 or Super Duty truck will have enhanced lighting output ideal for use in late night work sites or rural areas.
Step 1: Preassemble the LED pod lights with their U-shaped mounting brackets. Thread the wire and a bolt through the U-shaped bracket's opening.
Step 2: Turn your wheel inwards to give yourself clearance to work. The following fog light bezel removal pictures are based on the 2017 Ford F-150.
Step 3: Remove the 4 screws circled in red in the picture below, 2 on the wheel well and 2 on the fender flare.
Step 4: Once the bolts are completely unscrewed, completely remove the fender flare off of the lower end of your Ford truck headlights.
Step 5: Remove the screws located indicated by the circles below.
Step 6: Remove the air vent, if applicable, to reveal your stock fog light.
Step 7: Unscrew the 4 bolts circled in red securing the OEM fog light bezel.
Step 8: Separate your factory fog lamp and unbolt the vertical beam to give yourself more hand space.
Step 9: Take out the bezel from the fog light opening. Please be patient in performing this step because this is the most difficult part of the installation. Angle the bezel carefully so no other parts become loose. You won't have to remove the bumper to install the cubed CREE LED fog lights this way. Repeat steps 1-9 on the other side.
Step 10: Bolt the dual mount pod light support brackets onto the fog light bezels.
You must thread the bolts outwards. Otherwise, they will get in the way of the LED pod lights getting mounted onto the metal support brackets.
Step 11: Secure the LED pod lights to the bracket/bezel assemblies.
Alternatively, you may bolt the LED pod lights onto the metal mounting brackets before mounting the pod light/bracket assembly to the fog light bezels.
Step 12: Mount the LED foglight/bezel assemblies back to the fog light openings. Wire your LED fog lights using the included pigtail wiring adapters.
Step 13: Test your LED fog lamps to make sure it functions properly. Once you've confirmed that they do, put the air vent bezels, wheel wells, and fender flare back into place to finish. You may now enjoy your Ford F-150's brand new set of LED fog lights!
